Okay peeps.
Time to get serious.
Aku menulis dari pengalaman 10 tahun menjadi pekerja. Tidak sekali kali aku nak dabik dada mengatakan akulah yang terbaik ataupun terhebat (Tidak sesekali. Cuma aku tetap vogue bedebah hahahaha :P)
I've started working in July 1999. As an applications engineer (WTH? entah la deknon yang penting itu adalah kuli juga :D) doing hydraulic/rotating equipments. Before that, I was unemployed for about 7 months after coming back from Brisbane during December 1998.
After attending several interviews within that span of time, by the end of 7 months, I was finally accepted by this china-man company. For one reason. The only reason that made my application stand out. Simply because I conversed in fluent (?) English during the interview session.
Believe it or not. Having a piece of degree in engineering from a non-local university is the LEAST impressive. It was nothing, considering the fact that I have to compete with more than 10 people having that same piece of paper.
So I was accepted solely due to the fact that I can speak good English. And with the engineering background, it was certainly a bonus. First point English. Second point engineering degree.
I’m not saying that the above would be applicable to EVERY situation. I mean having good English and all. What I’m trying to say here is; we need to know our plus points that can actually help us to stand out from the mass average. Focus on your points, and expand them. Make them known. Shout them out.
It is a tough world outside there. It does not matter which part of the organization you are in. But please be very good in at least one area so you are indeed an asset to the company. Choose to be an asset rather than not. Trust me; it helps tremendously in term of job security. At times when companies are retrenching people, you will either be kept; or be hired by others. Simply because of your plus points!
Please understand that JOB is not a personal thing. It is purely business. Especially if you are working for other people. With this in mind, you must be able to draw that line of professionalism. When your boss is shouting at you, it is purely because you can’t deliver your job properly; not at all because you are a Malay working in all-Chinese environment (example). DON’T ever take it personal. I’ve seen many people being ‘destroyed’ inside out because they let their job become their lives.
You don’t have to be in love with your job. The only thing important is being able to deliver your KPIs (key performance indexes) that will determine your value to the company. That’s all it takes to stay in any job position.
And if you can deliver MORE that what is required, you have indeed notifying the company about your plus point. A good company SHOULD and MUST reciprocate in terms of perks and privileges.
And that my friends, is simply PRICELESS. As I put it to some people, NOBODY IS ABLE TO TAKE THAT AWAY FROM YOU.
Sekian. Selamat mencari rezeki.

AM,
ni second job. yang first company dah bungkus pon. company sekarang ok. tapi aku tak suka job scope aku. so tengah berkira2 nak berhijrah.

tapi like like lola, 5.15 saya terus shutdown. esok pukul 8 on balik. and i kenot la people yang 24 jam keje keje keje...hiks hiks!
10 years! and my experience is only half of yours.

MD,
tak semestinya english aje. tapi kalu nak fluent kena carik opis yang boss dia omputeh macam akak. hahahahahah :P
iza,
pegi tak pegi aku akan tetap berblogging. :)
CY,
ok la tu. akak 5.30 dah ada kat keta dah pun hahahahahah!
waa, mmg ler KAKAK, while you are applying for job, saya baru duk study nak PMR, wakakakaka..
saya setuju ngan point2 bernas tuh, walaupun pengalaman saya kerja hanya 18 bulan, tp excel in that plus point is true.. sbb saya start keja ngan gaji RM1K, then masa nak benti (sbb bencik ngan bos), bos sogok lebih 4kali ganda supaya tak benti, disebabkan plus point itu..within 18months (?)
